Foundations of Secondary Student Success (2025–26)

The Foundations of Secondary Student Success Community of Practice is a foundational differentiated professional learning experience that examines instructional strategies and methodologies that support the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and AVID Essential Skills in learning environments outside the core content areas. Educators will learn the importance of disciplinary literacy, experience WICOR® in action, and understand how to craft learning experiences that support rigorous academic preparedness, student agency, and student success skills for their specific role on campus.

Considerations

This course is for teachers of courses outside the primary core content areas (e.g., art and physical education), world language teachers, special education teachers, librarians, and instructional coaches new to the role or AVID.

This course is not for AVID Elective teachers, core content teachers, experienced AVID instructional coaches, site administrators, or district leaders.
