Transforming Literacy Secondary (2025–26)

Transforming Literacy Through Content-Area Reading: Secondary 6–12 (2025–26)

The Transforming Literacy Through Content-Area Reading: Secondary (6–12) Community of Practice demonstrates how to build disciplinary literacy skills through intentionally designed content-area reading. Educators will explore opportunities to provide students with diverse text types and activate background knowledge to support engagement with content and deepen comprehension. Participants will experience the AVID Critical Reading Process and engage in collaborative strategies that build content-area literacy skills. This Community of Practice will empower every educator with the knowledge, strategies, and resources necessary to foster a culture of literacy in which students can access rigorous content.
